Known issues

  • The game may start in windowed mode upon launching it for the first time. To fix this, simply go to Options -> Screen resolution.
  • It may surprise some users to hear low-quality audio in the voice and music but this is normal. The source files are thought to have been lost by Revolution Software and so there is no way of producing higher quality audio without re-recording it. Additionally, at the time of recording the voices for Broken Sword, Revolution only had access to a makeshift recording booth.

Unofficial compatibility

Linux compatibility

The Director's Cut works in Wine. According to this Wine AppDB report, the game should work out-of-the-box. On 64-bit systems, however, it may be necessary to install some multilib components.

It may be necessary to install various multilibs if running a 64-bit Arch system. To do this in Arch, simply uncomment the following line in your /etc/pacman.conf

Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

Your mileage may vary, but run

wine "~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files\ (x86)/ Sword - Director's Cut/bs1dc.exe"

via the terminal to determine which libs are missing.
