Experience fantasy role-playing's most distinctive and award-winning series in this special three-game collection. Ultima: The Second Trilogy follows the spellbinding tale of the Avatar in this richly detailed and challenging story. The setting is medieval Britannia, but the stories are timeless and involve universal issues that explore the essence of virtue. First, there is the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment in Ultima IV, where your personal ethics are tested in a treacherous struggle to demonstrate the eight virtues of Avatarhood. Then in Ultima V, you rely on your new-found strengths and skills to oppose a tyrannical leader who warps the virtues you uphold through his twisted legislation of morality. Finally, in the epic concluding chapter of Ultima VI, you, the Avatar, must resolve the cultural conflict between a race of hostile creatures and your own. It all adds up to a relentless test of character in a world where things are not always as they appear, and evil is not easily defined.
The game is packaged with DOSBox v0.74. Its installer is a single executable file.

Patches and modifications
The product is fully patched.
- Highly recommended: Pix's Ultima Patcher. A compilation of all current fan-made patches and upgrades for Ultima 1-6. This program allows the user to apply upgrades such as the the VGA and Music upgrade for Ultima 4, among other fixes. This patcher is specifically designed for the GOG versions of the Ultima games.
Since this release uses DOSBox, it is advised to read through our entry on DOSBox for general troubleshooting.
A common solution to this is changing the DOSBox graphical output. Run the "Graphics Mode setup" program in the game's folder and try out the graphic mode options until one suits your preferences.
Currently, the character save import does not work with GOG's Ultima 4-6 package. They are working on a solution.
There is a fan made solution in the form of a character data transfer utility available in Pix's Ultima Patcher.
- The Dungeon Hythloth has bug in which one room in level 6 is broken as it lacks a trigger for the exit wall. Fenyx4 fixed this with a patch, found here. Please know this is not a game breaking bug as there is nothing in Hythloth needed to complete the game as it's stone is elsewhere in the game world, all the bug does is force you to backtrack to leave the dungeon.
- If a companion dies and the party then is filled to the maximum of eight, resurrecting the character will turn the companion in question into a zombie that follows the player. Since the party can only have eight characters, the 9th member screws up the game until it crashes.
